Full Time Funeral Operative/Driver Bearer

Devall & Son Family Funeral Directors have an exciting opportunity to join our growing, committed

And forward-thinking team as a full time Funeral Operative/Driver Bearer.

Devall & Son was established in 1986 and during the last 35 years have established a leading & respected reputation both locally and nationally.

Devall & Son demand the very highest standards, the successful candidate must be prepared to follow and conduct our ever-evolving processes and procedures, that are in place to ensure our consistent quality of care and professionalism. The candidate must be able to work well with our existing close-knit team but have the right characteristics to work individually and be self-motivated.

Main duties that you will be expected to carry out are:

  • Representing Devall’s on funerals, acting as a Pall Bearer & Chauffeur, conducting Mourners Lists, in client facing duties.
  • Looking after loved ones and helping with preparing them for the Chapel of Rest, this will include assisting with washing & dressing
  • Conveying loved ones into our care from private residences, nursing homes, hospices, hospitals, and any other places we are entrusted to attend.
  • Fleet Management: Assisting to ensure our exclusive funeral vehicles and fleet are valeted to our exemplary company standards.
  • Workshop duties: Such as fitting and lining coffins & caskets
  • Housekeeping: Such as, general maintenance of our funeral homes and premises
  • On-call rota duties: Attending expected and unexpected deaths in the community outside of office hours. Officiating Chapel of Rest visits outside of normal office hours will also be expected.
  • Saturday morning office rota
  • Representing the company in an appropriate way and assisting clergy, professionals, and the general public when needed.
  • Health & Safety and Fire Marshal duties may be required
  • Any other appropriate duties.

Based at our head office in Attleborough, Nuneaton & branch office in Radford, Coventry, but various locations and area of work will be required

Hours of work

Monday – Friday 8.30am-5.00pm

+ On-Call & Saturday morning rota


Full UK Driving Licence
